Instructions for abstract submission
SRNT-E encourages submission of abstracts describing cutting-edge research in all fields related to nicotine and tobacco. Abstracts can be submitted for consideration as one of the following:
- Oral only
- Poster only
- Oral or Poster
- Symposium
- Pre-conference workshop
General submission guidelines
- Abstracts must be submitted via the EasyConferences abstract submission system by the deadline (https://www.easyacademia.org/srnte2026).
- All abstracts must be prepared in English. Submissions may not include charts, graphs, tables, or references
- Limit the abstract to 350 words in length (NOT including title, authors, affiliations or funding information).
- There is no fee to submit an abstract but all presenters will be expected to register (and pay) for the meeting.
- Notification of acceptance or rejection of abstracts will be emailed to the designated presenting/corresponding authors by mid June 2026.
- Oral and poster abstracts submitted for presentation must be based on empirical research and report actual (not promised) results.
- Abstracts submitted for symposia may include empirical and non-empirical contributions.
- At abstract submission, submitters will be required to confirm there are no prohibited tobacco industry related conflicts of interest as stated in SRNT-E position on the tobacco industry in order for their submission to be processed.
- Remember to proofread your submission. If included in the program, your author-prepared abstract will be made available in an abstract book exactly as it appears on your electronic submission. SRNT-E is not responsible for author errors. Please note that editing of the abstract can be done through the system as whilst the submission of abstracts is open. Once the submission stage has closed no further updates can be completed by the authors.
- Each presenting/corresponding author will receive an email confirmation from the submission system within 24-48 hours of abstract submission. Please keep a copy of this confirmation email for any late editing of your abstract. If you do not receive an email response within 48 hours, SRNT-E did not receive your abstract. In this case, it is your responsibility to contact the technical support via email at: srnteu@gmail.com
NOTE: Please prepare your abstract submission fully before completing the online form as content will not be saved if the submission form is closed during the process of submission.
Deadlines for submissions: Submissions for oral/poster/symposia presentations and preconference workshops must be received electronically and no later than 23:59 CET on 16th April 2026 to be considered for inclusion in the program. Consider submitting your abstract earlier than this deadline: SRNT-E welcomes early submissions!
Rapid response submissions: We plan to open a rapid response call closer to the conference date – details to be confirmed. Abstracts will be accepted as posters, unless there is space in the programme to offer as an oral presentation. Details regarding online abstract submissions of rapid response abstracts will be available on the website in June/July 2026.
Technical support: Should you have technical questions about your submission and/or submission system questions please support@easyconferences.org
Abstract submission instructions for oral/poster presentations
Oral Only: Abstracts that receive high peer-reviewed ratings and cluster around common themes will be selected for oral presentations of 12 minutes + 3 minutes of discussion each. Please note that program time constraints limit the opportunity for lengthy oral presentations. Unlike the “Oral OR Poster” option, abstracts submitted as oral only will NOT be considered for a poster presentation.
Oral or Poster: Abstracts that receive high peer-reviewed ratings and cluster around common themes will be selected for oral presentations of 12 minutes + 3 minutes of discussion each. Any abstract submitted under the “Oral or Poster” option that is not selected for an oral presentation automatically will be considered for a poster presentation.
Poster Only: Poster sessions allow presenters to discuss their research with interested colleagues. Poster tours will be organized clustering posters around common themes where possible.
Abstract submission instructions for symposia
Symposia examine important issues from a variety of perspectives and have compelling supporting data. Over a 75-minute period, three or four speakers and a discussant present and/or debate alternative solutions, interpretations, or points of view on a body of knowledge. Submission proposals for symposia need to include an overall abstract justifying the proposals and individual abstracts of the oral presentation of each speaker. Please note that symposia submissions are reviewed competitively and that not all symposia proposals will be included in the final program. Preference will be given to symposia that are especially timely, involve various research groups or that span a range of disciplines around the same, consistent topic. Individual symposium presenters will have the option of having their abstract considered as an oral or poster presentation, in the event that the overall symposium is not selected for presentation at the meeting.
Pre-conference workshops
Pre-conference workshops are designed to provide interactive, educational, and research-focused content that enhances attendees’ skills, knowledge, and engagement in nicotine and tobacco research. These will be provided to delegates free of charge. If you have an idea for a pre-conference workshop and would like to discuss before submitting, email Amanda Farley a.c.farley@bham.ac.uk.
Conflict of Interest Disclosure
At abstract submission, submitters will be required to confirm there are no prohibited tobacco industry related conflicts of interest as stated in SRNT-E position on the tobacco industry (see below). Submissions will not be processed before this is confirmed.
At the conference, all speakers and poster presenters will be required to disclose all financial relationships with the tobacco industry, e-cigarettes and nicotine product industry and pharmaceutical companies in a conflict of interest grid which will be made available.
SRNT-E position on tobacco industry
Current or past 5 year employees of the tobacco industry are not allowed to attend or present at the SRNT-E conference. Research that has been funded by the tobacco industry will also not be accepted. SRNT-E defines the tobacco industry as any manufacturer, marketer, distributor or importer of a tobacco product. Included in this definition are marketing/PR firms, legal firms, tobacco industry-sponsored advocacy groups, and private foundations that have received or continue to receive funding from the tobacco industry. E-cigarette or other companies that are wholly or partially owned by the tobacco industry are also considered part of the tobacco industry. However, e-cigarette or other companies that do not have any affiliation with the tobacco industry are allowed to participate. Disclosure of potential conflicts of interest related to the tobacco, nicotine or pharmaceutical industry will be required for presentations. It will remain under the discretion of the SRNT-E board to assess if a conflict of interest is prohibitive.
